Baby Doll (Paid Pattern)

Pattern Used:

Knit Baby Doll Pattern by Amy Gaines, available for purchase on Ravelry.

I had been wanting to make this doll for a few years now. I had the pattern saved in my Ravelry shopping cart for quite some time. These dolls are just so adorable! I’d like to make more in different colors eventually. The pattern is really simple to follow. For a beginner in knit amigurumi, I am sure it would be an ideal project. I myself am not very experienced in knit amigurumi, having made only a couple of knit toys over the years. In fact, I would love to knit a lot more toys! The feel of the finished knit toy is so much different than crocheted toys. Squishy and soft, lol, whereas crocheted toys are more stiff.

Having said all that, Amy Gaines does have a crocheted version of this doll, the pattern also being available for purchase on Ravelry. I might just have to buy that pattern too!

I changed, or rather added, one thing to my doll. I made a garter stitch collar to go around the neckline and added a small fabric flower to it. I think it looks pretty sweet 🙂 Oh, and I also sewed the bottom of the gown shut with a few stitches before tying it closed with the drawstring, since I made this doll for a small child and I didn’t want the stuffing to accidentally pop out, or pull out.
